About HBP

History

First Electric Truck in Hagerstown
The printing industry has undergone tremendous change since 1903 when six partners founded Hagerstown Bookbinding and Printing. In those days, the company printed its jobs on a hand-fed letterpress. Today HBP utilizes computers in all phases of its work enabling the company to supply its customers with the highest quality offset and digital printing as well as a wide variety of graphic design, Internet, multimedia, and state-of-the-art fulfillment and distribution services.

William Snyder, a West Virginia printer and newspaper publisher, purchased HBP in the early 1960s and successfully guided the firm through the transition from letterpress to offset printing. The business is still managed by the Snyder family with William's son John at the helm as owner and president. John's mother, Jane, continues to serve as chairman of the board.

In the mid-1990's the name of the company was shortened to its initials to reflect the growing array of print, communications, and information offerings. Today, in addition to high-quality offset and digital printing, HBP offers global reach through cutting-edge graphic design, advanced Internet services, multimedia, specialty advertising products, and state-of-the-art fulfillment and distribution services.
