Membership Services

The Hearth, Patio and Barbeque Association (HPBA)

Solutions Provided: HBP provides an online membership directory (password protected), data management tools for the association staff, printed membership directory, miscellaneous additional printed products, graphic design, and mailing services.

Website: www.hpamemberdirectory.org Note: This is a members only, password protected site. While you may view the main page and perform a search for member companies, additional access will require a login and password. For a demonstration of this or any other of our profiled websites, please send an e-mail request.

Aside from the usual benefits of an online directory, this particular directory affords the association's members the ability to update their information online. This feature reduces costs associated with printing, postage, and broadcast faxes, as HPBA no longer sends forms requesting updated information. HBP also provides a custom developed "holding tank" technology that enables the HPBA staff person responsible for updating member data to verify accuracy before the new information is uploaded to the database. This updating process takes place continuously, and is then published yearly in a printed directory

Once HPBA tells HBP to start the printing process, we export the data and format it for use by our in-house design department in their page layout applications. The data conversion process is very complex and includes the creation of six indices, cross-references, and references to graphic images, etc. Our design department merges the formatted pages with advertisements from HPBA members. The Prepress department produces a set of digital proofs for the entire book. Once the proofs are approved, the book is printed, bound, and mailed to the membership by our internal mail house. In the case of HPBA, both online and printed directories are necessary since some members do not have Internet access. The association also generates additional ad revenue from placements in the printed directory.
