Mercersburg Academy Scholarship Announcement

Purpose: This is a simple announcement that goes to the donors and supporters of the various scholarships available at Mercersburg Academy. The card lists the scholarship name and the name(s) of the scholarship recipients.

Technology: For the most part, this piece was not much more complicated then an mail merge. We simply placed the information given to us (in an Excel spreadsheet) into fields within the piece. We did have to create some conditional logic to change some of the wording based on the number of scholarship recipients. Some scholarships only had one recipient, others had more than one. The original verbiage in the piece used the word "recipient" in one sentence. We had to create some logic that essentially says: When you see more than one recipient, add an "apostrophe s" to the end of the word "recipient". This same logic was used to change the word "this" to "these" in a sentence asking the contact to "Please join "this/these" and other scholarship winners...".

Why This Is Important: A card like this is a simple and effective way to keep in contact with your customers, prospects, donors, etc. Personalizing it and making sure that the content fits the conditions of your offer makes for a much more professional and personal looking piece.
